Procedural writing can also be called instructional writing. The main purpose is to direct, inform or explain.
A procedure has these parts:
-Title tells us what is to be done
-Requirements are the items needed to complete a task
-Steps is a list of the instructions in order
-Test to check if the task was completed successfully
We brainstormed and realised there are many examples of procedural writing we see every day... recipes, game instructions, art and craft activities, fire drills, food packaging, flat pack furniture, electrical equipment manuals, science experiments etc. Today, everyone brought in some examples of procedural writing they found at home - what a variety we had! Our next task is writing our own instructions.
